  • WHAT HAPPENED?

James Carragher scored the opener for Wigan in a 2-0 win over Bristol Rovers in League One. The strike is a landmark for the 22-year-old as it's the first of his professional career, although he will be hoping for more before he finally hangs up his boots.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Carragher's goal also puts him just three behind his famous dad's tally for his entire career. The former defender enjoyed a long career at Liverpool, winning FA Cup, League Cup and Champions League titles, but wasn't known for his goalscoring exploits. Indeed Carragher scored just four goals in over 500 appearances for club and country.

  • WHAT CARRAGHER SAID

The fact that Carragher Jr is only three goals behind Carragher Sr did not seem to go down too well with the pundit on social media. He chose a few choice emojis in response to the news.
