  • WHAT HAPPENED?

The Telegraph state that Wright will be part of ITV's coverage of the Lionesses' Euro 2025 semi-final against Italy on Tuesday night in Switzerland. The report adds he was not originally part of the broadcaster's punditry lineup but is expected to join USWNT boss Emma Hayes, ex-England international Karen Carney, and presenter Laura Woods.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

This is the first time Wright has appeared as a pundit on a Lionesses game for ITV since Aluko claimed in April that he was dominating punditry in women’s football and blocking opportunities for women. The 61-year-old, who later did not accept the former striker's apology, has been covering the Euros on his Crossways podcast with former England captain Steph Houghton, so is very much up to speed with the competition.

  • DID YOU KNOW?

Arsenal legend Wright was also brought in for ITV from the semi-final stage during the 2023 World Cup in Australia and New Zealand. After covering that tournament on his own platforms, he flew out to join the broadcaster's lineup.

    WHAT NEXT?

After a narrow and dramatic penalty shootout win over Sweden in the quarter-finals last week, Sarina Wiegman's Lionesses team will hope to reach a second straight Euros final as the defending champions take on Italy at 8 pm on Tuesday.
