'Pretty hectic' - How England players really spent morning after Denmark draw as Harry Kane denies calling emergency team meeting

Reports emerged that captain Kane had led a meeting between the players to discuss their awful performance against Denmark at Euro 2024. But the Bayern Munich man has since denied that any such meeting took place and revealed that the squad actually spent time with their families instead.

Speaking to talkSPORT, Kane said: "No, that didn’t happen. I’m not sure where that’s come from. It was probably just people trying to create something out of nothing. The day after the game was just a small debrief as we always do from the manager, then had a family day. We had seven hours with the family, which I’m not sure all the lads were happy about after a few hours.

"It was pretty hectic to be fair, we might cut that down in the future. It was an important day to switch our minds off. We’ve done well in the tournament so far, so it was an important day to switch our minds off."

Gareth Southgate's England have been revered for their squad unity and togetherness in recent years and it seems that relationship between the players is needed now more than ever. The Three Lions are expected to win Euro 2024 and it is going to take a marked improvement from everyone if that is to become a reality.

England will complete their group stage campaign on Tuesday evening against Slovenia. A win will take them through to the knockout stages as the top team in Group C and Kane's contributions will be key, with the Bayern Munich man having opened his goal account for the tournament in the draw with Denmark.
