    WHAT HAPPENED?

It didn't take long for Burnley to seize the lead, with Chris Wood scoring his first of two goals in just the second minute. The striker was set up by Anthony Elanga, who occupied that right wing spot Reyna featured in during the Swedish star's recent injury absence.

Wood made it 2-0 just 12 minutes later, scoring his second goal of the day on an assist from Ryan Yates. From there, there was no way back from Burnley. The hosts pulled one back in the 72nd minute on a goal from Josh Cullen, but it was too little, too late for them as Forest emerged victorious via 2-1 scoreline.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

The win had a slight impact at the bottom of the table, although much was already decided. Both sides had largely sealed their fates ahead of this match, which had the potential to be a relegation decider just a few short weeks ago.

Even with the win, Forest finish their season in 17th, seven points behind 16th-place Brentford. Nuno Espirito Santo's side ended up six points clear of the relegation zone by the end of it all, although they headed into Sunday's match essentially safe. Luton would have needed a Forest loss and a massive goal swing to have any chance of survival, with Forest's win ending any hopes of a miracle.

Burnley, meanwhile, finished 19th, joining Luton and Sheffield in the drop to the Championship for next season.

    USMNT IMPACT

Sunday's match concludes Reyna's nightmare loan spell at Forest, one which never even got close to being productive for the young American star.

In total, Reyna played just 235 minutes across nine appearances, only two of which were starts. Those 235 minutes were fewer than the 280 minutes he got at Borussia Dortmund during the first half of the season, with that lack of playing time leading to the loan in the first place.

Reyna's career will be at a crossroads this summer as the USMNT star now looks to get his club career back on track, either at Dortmund or elsewhere.

    GOAL'S RATINGS

    Gio Reyna (N/A):

Don't cry because it's over... be thankful. Reyna's miserable run at Forest is finally complete, and it fittingly ended with another game that saw him stuck on the bench in little more than a cheerleading capacity.

    WHAT COMES NEXT?

Reyna can now look ahead to a much-needed return to the USMNT. U.S. Soccer is set to announce Gregg Berhalter's June Training Camp roster on Monday as the U.S. begins preparation for the upcoming Copa America with friendlies against Colombia and Brazil on June 8 and 12, respectively.
