‘Get me on an NFL pitch!’ - Tom Brady fields request from Birmingham striker Lyndon Dykes as seven-time Super Bowl winner becomes more than ‘a face’ at St Andrew’s

Seven-time Super Bowl winner Brady is a minority stakeholder at St Andrew’s. He does not have voting rights on the club’s board or any input in transfer and selection matters, but is called upon to put his vast experience of elite-level sport to good use.

He has seen Birmingham bounce back into the Championship with a record-breaking tally of 111 points, fending off Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney's Wrexham in the process - with the ultimate goal being to reach the Premier League.

While Brady is not a regular visitor to the West Midlands, with commitments in the United States with the Las Vegas Raiders and FOX Sports taking up plenty of his time, he is always on hand to offer words of advice to anyone who needs it.

Blues striker Dykes has told the Daily Record of working alongside NFL legend Brady: “It’s great having someone like that who has been so successful in his own sport. He does pop in and out and I’ve met him a couple of times. He brings a different mentality and knowledge to certain things.

“He’s got a lot of input, he’s not just a face. He’s around the place and he’s got ideas about what he wants. Some of the stuff they’ve brought to the club has been really good, like the medical department. He’s brought a different outlook to the physio room, with his own head of medicine and the way they try to do things so that there are fewer injuries.

“He’s very inspirational. Going forward, I feel it’s going to be very successful with him and the owners there, Tom Wagner and the Knighthead group.

“I actually do like the Raiders, but I didn’t really have an NFL team as such. Hopefully, he can get me on an NFL pitch because I think I could be all right at that as well! I’d have to put a bit more muscle on because some of those boys are massive.”

Birmingham spent big ahead of surging to the League One title in 2024-25, smashing a number of transfer records, and are expected to splash the cash again as they prepare for a return to the second tier of English football.
