  • Flattered to deceive during his time in Germany
  • Will hope to show his worth in the second-tier
  • WHAT HAPPENED?

The attacking midfielder has made 21 senior appearances for Liverpool and was loaned to Leipzig to further his education, although he struggled to make inroads. In total, he made just one Bundesliga start, and only played 90 minutes once, in a Champions League win over BSC Young Boys. Now, though, he will continue his career with Hull.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Hull weren't the only club keen on Carvalho but owner Acun Ilicali told Sky Sports News that the deal is almost agreed.

"We agreed all terms with him. I'm very happy to say he's going to wear the Hull shirt. It's almost done. The announcement has to be done, that's all. The club will do it," he said.

"So many clubs wanted him and he chose us. It's because of the way we are playing the game. Liam Rosenior has a big effect on that, playing nice football.

"He wants to go to a place where he will enjoy football. Hull is the best place for him to improve his talents. We are a fantastic club with fantastic players and a fantastic coach. Everything is so good here."

  • DID YOU KNOW?

Carvalho is still just 21 and has played for both England and Portugal at youth levels. He was most recently capped by the Portugal U21s but has yet to be capped at senior level, meaning he can still declare for either country.
