Erling Haaland becomes a dad for the first time as Pep Guardiola accidentally lets slip Man City star’s partner Isabel Haugseng Johansen has given birth
Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has accidently let slip news that star striker Erling Haaland has become a father for the first time.
Haaland was back in the goals on Sunday as Manchester City returned to winning ways with a 2-0 victory over Leicester in the Premier League. The Norway international bagged his 14th Premier League goal of the season, and his first since scoring in the 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace at the start of December, as Pep Guardiola's side ended a run of five games without a win.

THE BIGGER PICTURE
Haaland has come in for criticism during his recent goal drought but Guardiola leapt to his defence after the match. The City boss also revealed that it's been an emotional few days for Haaland as he has recently become a father, as partner Isabel Haugseng Johansen has given birth to the couple's first child. Haaland had previously revealed back in October that he and his partner were expecting.
WHAT GUARDIOLA SAID
He told reporters: "Sometimes Erling has been judged badly but it's part of football. He's tired, he's played a lot of minutes. He's become a father for the first time in the last few days, a lot of emotions and an exciting few days for him."

WHAT NEXT FOR HAALAND
Haaland may have to get used to some sleepless nights as he settles into life with a new baby but much will still be expected of the striker. City will be hoping that Sunday's win is the end of their recent dismal form as they head into 2025 and a first Premier League match of the new year against West Ham.
