  • WHAT HAPPENED?

The Uruguayan striker had a tough 2024-25 campaign personally, struggling for game time under Arne Slot as the Reds won their second Premier League title. Nunez's former international team-mate Walter Gargano has now claimed that Nunez is ready to quit Anfield this summer and that a move to Napoli is in the offing - as the Daily Mail reports.

    WHAT GARGANO SAID

Gargano told radio station Kiss Kiss Napoli: "The warmth of the Neapolitans would do him a lot of good, I spoke to him about a week ago and I hope he really comes to Naples. He told me: 'Yes, I'll come to Naples right away. I'm waiting to close with Naples.'"

  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

Napoli are one of several clubs said to be interested in Nunez as they seek to add more firepower to a squad that won the 2024-25 Serie A title. Kevin De Bruyne has already signed for Antonio Conte's side and there seems to be more money to spend on Premier League talent.
