  • WHAT HAPPENED?

Bayindir, who is usually United's backup keeper, was preferred to Andre Onana against Arsenal on Sunday but he flapped at Declan Rice's corner, under pressure from William Saliba, and Riccardo Calafiori was on hand to nod in from close range. That goal separated the two sides in the 1-0 Premier League win at Old Trafford, prompting club legend Keane to tear into the "schoolboy" Turkish stopper and the Red Devils as a whole.

    WHAT KEANE SAID

He said on Sky Sports: "Credit to Arsenal – they vary the delivery; they’re attacking it. But if you’re the goalkeeper, take control of the six-yard box. Keepers and defenders complain all the time about people getting in their face. You get in their face. Be aggressive. I've said it many times for a goalkeeper - come with violence. Take control of it. Far too easy. It’s like schoolboy stuff. Man Utd - weak and soft."

  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

Despite United's encouraging display against Premier League title hopefuls Arsenal, head coach Ruben Amorim has a big problem on his hands. Onana made a number of big errors last season and when Bayindir has replaced him, he has flattered to deceive as well. The Red Devils spent £47.2 million ($64m) on Onana two years ago but it is fast becoming apparent that they may need a new number one for the season ahead.

    WHAT NEXT?

After saying there is a good competition for places among his United keepers, it remains to be seen if Onana, Bayindir or even Tom Heaton will start in goal when they travel to Fulham in their second Premier League encounter next Sunday.
