    WHAT HAPPENED

Former Colorado Rapids and USMNT goalkeeping icon Tim Howard visited his former club while they were training prior to a game against San Diego, where he connected with current Rapids goalkeeper Zack Steffen and longtime goalkeeping coach Chris Sharpe. The three posed for photographs together following a training session, creating a meaningful visual link between the club's goalkeeping past and present. Howard spent a part of his career as a player with the Rapids, making 100 appearances for them between 2016-2019.

  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

The meeting between Howard, Steffen, and Sharpe represents more than just a photo opportunity – it symbolises the ongoing legacy of elite American goalkeeping that has been a cornerstone of U.S. soccer for decades. Howard's distinguished career, which included Premier League success with Manchester United and Everton before his Colorado stint, established a pathway that Steffen has followed in reverse, moving from Manchester City to MLS.
