Christian Pulisic contract concern? AC Milan have ‘no meetings scheduled’ with USMNT star as extension delay at San Siro drags on

That is according to prominent journalist Matteo Moretto, who has an ear to the ground at San Siro. He has delivered an update on the long-running saga that saw Pulisic supposedly green light an extension with Milan in early 2025.

Penning of said agreement was delayed over the summer as Pulisic waited to discover what direction Milan would be heading in under returning coach Massimiliano Allegri. The 27-year-old forward has continued to deliver on the field while avoiding any distractions off it.

It remains to be seen whether Pulisic will agree to prolong an Italian job that started in 2023 when he completed a move from Premier League side Chelsea. He is settled in Italy, with golf pro girlfriend Alexa Melton paying regular visits to Europe, but boasts big ambition and wants to play at the very highest level.

Moretto told his YouTube channel when revealing the current state of play: “Christian Pulisic is now a sure thing at AC Milan. He has never held back on the pitch and has never disappointed expectations. He started this year strongly again: four games and three goals in the league, with a fantastic performance in Udine.

“I want to tell you about the situation surrounding his contract because at the beginning of 2025, AC Milan came very close to renewing Pulisic’s contract, with the parties having reached a verbal agreement and the contracts ready to be signed.

“Then there was a delay in the signing: the player, through his entourage, asked for more time because he wanted to evaluate the Rossoneri project, starting with the coach and the transfer market decisions. Pulisic asked for guarantees, which then arrived.

“An agreement was reached for a renewal until 2028, plus a further one with a salary of €4-5 million per year, but at this time the negotiations have not yet been resolved: Milan wants to renew Pulisic’s contract, the player gives Milan priority, but the parties have not yet met for this renewal, which is essentially on hold.

“There is no imminent situation; it is not an issue that Milan will resolve in the coming weeks: there are no meetings scheduled.”

That could be considered a source of concern for Milan, with Pulisic seemingly still not entirely convinced that his long-term future will be best served in his current surroundings. A resolution will be sought at some stage, with the USMNT talisman working his way towards a home World Cup in the summer of 2026.
