    WHAT HAPPENED?

Lewandowski's underwhelming performances with the struggling Catalan team have contributed to rumours in recent months that he may move to Major League Soccer or Saudi Arabia. The Barcelona forward has been linked to Chicago Fire, but Klopas has now scotched that rumour.

  • WHAT KLOPAS SAID

"It’s not feasible," said Klopas [via Pro Soccer Wire]. "Every team in [MLS] would want Lewandowski to come. But unfortunately, he has two years left in his contract."

"Barcelona paid over $50 million to get him, so I don’t think it’s a player that’s going to be coming into MLS, especially right now."

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Lewandowski joined Barcelona in the summer of 2022 for €50 million and hit it off immediately. However, his form with the club has dwindled after the 2022 World Cup in Qatar where he suffered a back injury. This season, he has scored eight La Liga goals in 18 games.

Despite his fall in form, Lewandowski has the confidence of Xavi and therefore, it is likely that if the former midfielder stays at the club, he will want the Polish striker to stay at the club.
