    WHAT HAPPENED?

The two Premier League giants alongside Nottingham Forest and Leicester City are struggling to comply with the Premier League's Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR). Hence they have to execute their player sales by the end of June to avoid punitive action that could include a point deduction in the upcoming season.

  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

According to Daily Mail, national team coaches might not allow the agents to meet with their players during the European Championship which could potentially complicate transfer negotiations. England could be playing their last 16 fixture on 29 or 30 June, which coincides with PSR's deadline as well.

  • DID YOU KNOW?

Chelsea contemplate selling Conor Gallagher before the deadline to mitigate PSR concerns but Gareth Southgate might not grant access to the player to his representatives. Gallagher is not alone in this uncertainty, as other England players, including Harry Maguire, Ivan Toney, and Jarrad Branthwaite, are also looking to find fresh challenges next season.

Beyond the England squad, Premier League stars like Newcastle's Sven Botman and Leicester's Wout Faes are also seeking new pastures. Nottingham Forest, however, appear to remain insulated from the chaos, with key players like Morgan Gibbs-White and Brazilians Murillo and Danilo excluded from Euro participation.

    WHAT NEXT?

Leicester already face two PSR charges as a series of financial losses have placed the club in jeopardy. They will be keen to sell Wout Faes which could help them recoup some of the losses but that might not be enough as the Foxes have also allegedly breached Premier League's £105 million limit for their most recent three-year period in the top flight.
