Revealed: Chelsea failed with attempted swap transfer involving Raheem Sterling and yet another winger

Chelsea tried to sign Federico Chiesa from Juventus in a swap deal that would have seen Raheem Sterling go the other way.

WHAT HAPPENED?
Per Gianluca Di Marzio, Chelsea held talks with Juventus over a possible swap transfer involving Chiesa and Sterling, however, the talks fell through due to the wage demands and valuation of the two players. Sterling's wages at Stamford Bridge are almost double what the Italian earns at Juventus.

The report, however, claims that the Blues continue to remain interested in the left winger and could once again come after him in a separate deal. Their pursuit, though, depends on whether they can sell Sterling to the Bianconeri or any other club.
DID YOU KNOW?
With the arrival of 24-year-old Pedro Neto at Stamford Bridge, Sterling is likely to be sent out in the ongoing summer transfer window and has been linked with a previous move to Juventus. On the other hand, Chiesa has been informed by new manager Thiago Motta to look for a new club as he does not fit into his plans for the 2024-25 season.
