WHAT HAPPENED?
FC Cincinnati are all set to sell their star player to Mexican club CF Monterrey for an $8.5m (£6.7m)transfer fee, according to The Athletic. The report further states that Monterrey will pay $7.5m (£5.9m) up front while $1m (£789k) will be paid as add-ons.

THE BIGGER PICTURE
Along with the Liga MX club, Championship side Middlesbrough have also submitted a bid to sign the USA international. Clubs like Brentford, Hoffenheim and Borussia Monchengladbach were also thought to be keen on bringing in Vazquez, although none of have submitted bids yet.
The American side, who could not progress beyond the Conference Finals last season, will begin their journey in MLS 2024 on February 25 against Toronto FC.
