'I made the right decision' - Benjamin Sesko lifts lid on reasons for snubbing Arsenal transfer despite repeated links with Emirates move

In his debut season with Leipzig, Sesko netted 18 goals and his impressive performance on the field drew attention from several Premier League clubs, with Manchester United and Arsenal among the suitors. The Gunners seemed the closest to securing his signature this summer but the player chose to sign a lucrative new deal with the Bundesliga side, which has forced Mikel Arteta to look for alternative options.

Sesko reflected on his choice in an interview with Nogomania, emphasizing the importance of gaining more experience and not rushing his career. "I thought it through very well," Sesko said. "I believe I made the right decision. I wanted to gain more experience, learn more, and not rush things. Leipzig is an excellent club that can provide what I need for the next step. Leipzig's vision is clear; everything is geared towards growth, progress, and high goals. I felt it was right to decide this way."

Sesko admitted that Leipzig manager, Marco Rose, played a significant role in his decision to stay at Leipzig.

"We talked," Sesko explained. "He told me he wanted me to stay but also said I should decide based on my feelings. He said if I felt I needed to move on, I should go, but if not, I should stay. He’s an excellent coach who has led many great players. I’m glad I decided this way. I did it before the Euro to keep a clear head and focus entirely on the championship."

Although Sesko's new contract with Leipzig runs until 2029, his long-term future may still be open to change. There is speculation about a gentleman's agreement that could allow him to move next summer and if Arsenal are still in need of attacking reinforcements, the Slovenian might finally end up in North London.
