The report further claims that Fenerbahce have already submitted a bid worth £6.8 million (£8.6m) earlier in the week and are favourites to land the player. United officials are now discussing whether to extend the player's stay - who has six months left in his current contract - by one more season by triggering a clause in his deal and then send him out on loan in the summer with an option of a permanent transfer in the future.

Other than the Turkish side, West Ham United and Inter have also expressed their desire to sign the 28-year-old and it remains to be where the player eventually ends up before the transfer window closes. It increasingly seems that he does not have a future with the Red Devils, though.
