First Professional League Overview

Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk has warned his team-mates that their current defensive form is "not sustainable" following a disappointing 3-2 defeat to Fenerbahce. The Reds surrendered a late lead in Istanbul, conceding three times from set-pieces to mark a historically poor run in European competition.

Liam Rosenior has finally addressed the intense scrutiny and online mockery that defined his short-lived tenure at Chelsea, insisting that he is far from the 'joke' he was portrayed as. The 42-year-old manager, who spent just 107 days in the hot seat at Stamford Bridge, believes his departure was fueled by external narratives rather than his tactical capabilities on the pitch.

Newcastle United head coach Matthias Jaissle has insisted he still retains the total backing of the club's board despite a dismal run of form that has left the Magpies languishing in 13th place. The German tactician finds himself under increasing scrutiny following a string of defeats and reports of a fractured dressing room at St. James' Park.

Jack Grealish’s difficult second spell at Everton has taken another frustrating turn as manager David Moyes confirmed the midfielder will not feature in Friday’s Premier League meeting with Coventry City. The 31-year-old remains on the sidelines following a recent disciplinary issue that has seen him excluded from the first-team setup.
