WHAT HAPPENED? The Mexican starlet has been in sensational form this season with 15 goals and three assists from 11 games including a brace against Lazio in the Champions League on Wednesday evening in a 3-1 win. He was a key figure in the Feyenoord dressing room last season as well and played an instrumental role in guiding them to the Eredivisie title with 28 goals and three assists.

WHAT THEY SAID: “We have already discussed with Atlético Madrid. After he arrived at Feyenoord, the family approached me and now there are relationships with his father who represents Santi at the moment I am their consultant,” stated Morris Pagniello, consultant to the forward, in an interview with TuttoMercato.

“We talked about him with Inter, Milan, Lazio and Napoli, but for me he could be perfect for both Inter and Juventus. They would be the best options for him. I’ve been telling various clubs to believe in him, his value went from €10m to €40m in just under 12 months. Now the teams closest to him are Real Madrid and Tottenham.”

THE BIGGER PICTURE: Gimenez has a contract with Feyenoord that extends until 2027 and it will be a challenging task to persuade the Eredivisie side to part ways with their forward. Presently, they value him at £44 million ( €50m/$53.18m) but could further inflate their asking price if he continues his rich vein of form, and reports suggest that Spurs are currently leading the race.
