RUMOURS: Tottenham planning swoop for Atletico's Gaitan

The Argentina attacker has been linked with a switch to White Hart Lane having struggled to secure sufficient playing time in La Liga this season

Tottenham are set to offer Atletico Madrid winger Nicolas Gaitan a route out of the club in the January transfer window, according to Spanish publication AS.

Mauricio Pochettino is a fan of his countryman having monitored him while the 28-year-old was in Portugal with Benfica, and is hoping to secure a deal before the end of the month.

Gaitan has scored twice for Diego Simeone's men in La Liga this season despite starting just three games, having failed to establish himself completely in the Atletico first-team.

Pochettino is reportedly on the hunt for additional attacking outlets as he constructs a Spurs squad which can challenge for the Premier League title come May.
