Florian Maurice, Lyon's head of recruitment, has returned to watch more of Chelsea's Bertrand Traore ahead of his match at loan club, Ajax, against Panathinaikos in the Europa League.
The 21-year-old only signed a new deal at Chelsea in August, but Lyon are continuing to watch him after seeing the Burkino Faso international against AZ on November 6.
Chelsea regard Traore highly and would take some convincing to sell their young talent, who has done well on loan in the Eredivisie, and has appeared in 18 matches while scoring five goals for the Dutch giants.
Antonio Conte considered keeping Traore in his squad during Chelsea's pre-season tour of the United States and Austria before agreeing to send him out on loan, but it was Guus Hiddink who gave the youngster his breakthrough season last year at Stamford Bridge.
Lyon, who recently expanded their scouting programme, are likely to look at signing Traore in the summer, rather than in January.
Ajax, for their part, won't look to make his loan move permanent with Traore's wages financially out of reach for the Amsterdam club.
