Fernando Llorente has admitted that he could have left Swansea in January in favour of a move to Antonio Conte's Chelsea.

WATCH: French derby ends in violent brawl

Conte was keen to bring the striker to Stamford Bridge having worked with the Spaniard at Juventus, but the move never materialised despite the Swans being in disarray.

New Liberty Stadium boss Paul Clement also admitted that he feared the 31-year-old would depart, but the then troubled side were able to hold on to the target man in a major boost to their Premier League survival hopes.

“I already knew Conte from Juventus,” Llorente said, as quoted by the Mirror.

“But it's difficult in the winter when there's a way out from a side you're playing for and it's normal that they didn't go ahead with the deal.”

Swansea's fortunes have altered dramatically since Clement's arrival, winning three out of their five clashes since the ex-Bayern assistant boss set up shop in south Wales.

Gradually edging away from the relegation zone, Llorente is now committed to helping his new boss and the club secure survival in the English top flight.

RUMOURS: AC Milan's mega-money summer plan

"I'm very focused on the team and am looking forward to helping save us from relegation,” he added.

"The last few games I've been happy with as we've gotten away from the bottom.

"It will be a very tough fight, though, and we hope to get further ahead when we face Leicester in a final next Sunday."
