After receiving treatment for a couple of minutes the Spurs physio decided it was not safe for him to continue, with Kane cutting a frustrated figure as he limped down the tunnel.

Kane, who had scored eight goals in his three domestic games prior to Saturday's cup game, was replaced by Christian Erksen, who then gave the London club the lead.

The 23-year-old is now likely to miss England's upcoming friendly against Germany and the World Cup Qualifier against Lithuania, having already failed to make his debut for new Three Lions boss Gareth Southgoute because of a previous injury.
