FIFA U-17 World Cup 2017: Japan announce 21-member squad

Japan have announced their 21-member squad for the upcoming FIFA U-17 World Cup which will be held in India from October 6-28. This will be Japan's eighth appearance in the World Cup finals at U-17 level. 

The Blue Samurai were one of the four semi-finalists in the AFC U-16 Championship 2016 and by virtue of it they qualified for the 2017 World Cup. Japan went on to lose to Iraq in the semi-finals.

Japan are placed in Group E alongside France, New Caledonia and Honduras. They will play two of their three group stage matches at the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium, Guwahati with the final one against New Caledonia being scheduled at the Salt Lake Stadium, Kolkata. Their first game is scheduled on October 8 against Honduras.

They have announced three goalkeepers, six defenders, seven midfielders and five forwards.

Here is the full squad of Japan:

Goalkeepers: Umeda Togo, Tani Kosei, Suzuki Zion

Defenders: Iketaka Nobuki, Kemmotsu Takumu, Sugawara Yukinari, Kobayashi Yuki, Yamasaki Taichi, Baba Seiya.

Midfielders: Okuno Kohei, Hirakawa Rei, Suzuki Toichi, Tsubaki Naoki, Fukouka Shimpei, Kida Hinata, Kozuki Soichiro.

Forwards: Yamada Hiroto, Miyashiro Taisei, Nakamura Keito, Kubo Takefusa, Saito Koki.
