FAM settles negotiations with Bernhardt

Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) finally closed the chapter on Frank Bernhardt, months since removing him from the position of the head coach of the national U22 side.

The German Bernhardt was replaced by Datuk Ong Kim Swee after HRH Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim (TMJ) and a new executive committee took over at FAM in March.

Bernhardt's last official duty was the Dubai Cup in which Malaysia finished with only one win from four matches played in the mini-tournament.

A meeting was held at FAM on Sunday where the salary arrears concerning Bernhardt was resolved.

The settlement was consented by TMJ, and the meeting was held between Bernhardt and Dato' Hamidin Amin, the General-Secretary of FAM.

Dato' Hamidin also commented that the organisation did not want to comment on the issue previously to ensure that it won't disrupt the negotiations with Bernhardt.

There's a perception that Bernhardt was given the short end of the stick, having previously been promised time to group the players for a sustained period of time leading up to vital tournaments in 2017.

However, those plans never materialised and the German was a unceremoniously dumped once the new management took over at FAM.
