PKNS FC made it all the way to the final of the FA Cup last year but a narrow 1-0 defeat in the 2nd round to Melaka United sees them leaving this year's competition earlier than before.

Speaking after the game, coach E. Elavarasan said: “This is a knockout tournament, if you win, you get to advance, and if you lose, you have to pack your bags. That’s the way it is.”

“We failed to convert our chances and they managed to punish us with one or two mistakes that we did.”

Elavarasan admitted playing away was tough for his team, but he still believed that the players did really well throughout the game.

“Any teams that play away from home will find it difficult and will take some time before they got to get used to the pitch.”

“My players did their best and maybe because when we were behind in the second half, my strategy to put plenty of strikers upfront didn’t work.

“And it was Melaka United who showed great discipline defensively and defended really well from giving us any chance to drag the match into extra time,” added Elavarasan.

Former Johor Darul Ta'zim and Selangor player, Amri Yahyah scored the only goal of the game in the 66th minute which takes Melaka United through to the next round.
