Chelsea target Teixeira could cost £36 million - Lucescu

Chelsea target Alex Teixeira could cost more than £35 million to sign next summer, according to his Shakhtar Donetsk boss Mircea Lucescu.

Attacking midfielder Teixeira, 25, has scored 26 goals in as many games this season, and claims Shakhtar have receieved proposals from Chelsea, Juventus and PSG to sign him.

But Lucescu believes the Brazilian is already worth close to £30m and says he would cost close to the reported £44m PSG paid Manchester United for Angel Di Maria, were he playing in a more competitive league.

"Alex is now worth more than €40m (£29m)," the Romanian said.

"I think at the end of the season, were he to continue his performance, his value is €50m (£36.3m)."

"If he were playing in a more competitive league, his transfer would be at the same level as that of Di Maria."

Teixeira has no preference as to which club he joins but admits playing in England is his dream.

"It's my dream [to go to England]," Teixeira told Lance last month.

"I've spoken to many people who have the desire to play in the Premier League, because I think it's the best in the world, more contested, and I want to have this challenge in my career.

"I'm glad to have received that proposal from Chelsea, they're a great club in Europe, but my manager will deal with that.

"What I've seen, and what my manager has said, is that Chelsea, Juventus and PSG made offers. But Chelsea and Juventus are deeper into negotiations.

"They're three big clubs. Wherever I go, I'll be happy."
