2017-18 Champions League group stage is highest scoring in competition history

Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool led the way in a record-setting group phase, as they were the only two sides to top 20 total goals

The 2017-18 Champions League group phase has set the record for the highest-scoring group stage in the competition's history. 

With 306 total goals between the 32 teams, never before have so many goals been tallied in a Champions League group stage. 

Led by Paris Saint-Germain, who scored 25 times in six games and Liverpool, who netted 23 times, the goals flew in consistently across the 96 total matches in the group phase.

PSG set the record for the most goals ever in the Champions League group stage, while the Reds come in second on that list after their 7-0 demolition of Spartak Moscow on the final day of group play. 

Each Champions League group stage match averaged 3.2 goals, and each team averaged more than 1.5 goals per game.
