Czech Republic vs Turkey Betting: Goals set to flow in Lens

Comments()
Despite failing to play their best football so far, both teams have a chance of making the knockout stages and the need to score means we could see at least three goals

Having seen his side utterly outclassed by Spain, Turkey manager Fatih Terim claimed rather ominously that he would do "what is necessary" ahead of their final game against Czech Republic.

If the Turkish press had been scathing about the side's limp display in their opening defeat to Croatia, they were positively seething after the 3-0 loss to La Roja with the fans too showing their displeasure by booing captain Arda Turan during the game.

The Barcelona man is yet to get going in the tournament yet he is still the outstanding player in this Turkey side although it remains to be seen if Terim's comments mean he could be dropped. The atmosphere in the Turkish camp is at a pretty low ebb, so the manager will need to find a way to rouse his troops ahead of the encounter with the Czechs, a game in which both teams harbour hopes of progressing despite not playing at anywhere close to their best thus far.

Indeed, the Czech Republic could even finish second in the group with a victory and Pavel Vrba's men will be full of belief after coming back from 2-0 down to claim the unlikliest of draws with Croatia.

That result and the positive energy it will have brought is perhaps the main reason why we find the Czechs as favorites with Paddy Power at 7/5 (2.40) while Turkey are priced at 15/8 (2.88) and the draw which would eliminate both sides can be backed at 13/5 (3.60).

In a tournament charactarised by low scoring games, these two sides have been involved in two of the highest scoring matches so far, and with both of them needing to go for a win, there could be more goals on Tuesday evening.

Both teams to score is offered at 8/11 (1.72) but it is the price of evens (2.00) for over 2.5 goals which interests most. Turkey simply must improve, with the pride of a nation resting on this performance, while the Czechs will be buoyant and confident of claiming a first win. The game should be pretty open, and while backing goals has not proved profitable in the majority of games up until now in this competition, Tuesday's game in Lens feels like it should bring goals.

Over 2.5 goals at evens (2.00) for a 1pt stake with Paddy Power
