Wrexham finally active in the transfer market! Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney give Phil Parkinson his wish as Red Dragons bid for Wigan striker Stephen Humphrys

According to TEAMtalk, the Red Dragons have made a formal offer for Humphrys as they aim to strengthen their attacking lineup before the transfer window closes. The Wigan ace is now in the final six months of his contract, which might help the Welsh outfit to get him at a discounted price.

Wrexham, who are currently positioned second in League Two, view Humphrys as a key player who could contribute goals and aid in their promotion campaign. Parkinson has insisted on reinforcing their attack and the recent defeat to Newport County, where they failed to find the net, might have spurred owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney to hasten the transfer process.

Humphrys has nine goals and four assists in 33 games across various competitions for Wigan this season. Having spent the 2022-23 season on loan at Hearts in Scotland, Humphrys returned to Wigan last summer. He is a product of Fulham's academy and had stints with Southend in 2019 and Rochdale in 2020, before making the move to Wigan the following year.

It remains to be seen if Wrexham's bid is enough to convince Wigan to let go of their prized asset. Nonetheless, there is little doubt that the potential acquisition of Humphrys would add more depth and firepower to Wrexham's squad as they strive for back-to-back promotions.
