Wrexham promotion hero Ollie Rathbone enjoys ‘best day of my life’ as Kaitlin Olson, James McClean & Elliot Lee pass on wedding day messages

All-action midfielder Rathbone briefly became the Red Dragons’ record signing when completing a move to North Wales from Rotherham in the summer of 2024. He went on to repay that show of faith from Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney with interest.

The 28-year-old posted a career-best return of eight goals during his debut campaign at SToK Racecourse. Those efforts helped Phil Parkinson’s side to secure a runner-up finish in League One and a third successive step up the EFL ladder.

Hollywood co-owners rewarded Parkinson’s squad with another all-expenses-paid trip to Las Vegas after rewriting the history books, with McElhenney and his wife Olson joining the party in Sin City.

Rathbone has, however, topped all of those achievements by tying the knot with his partner. In what is shaping up to be a busy summer for professional footballers - with West Ham skipper Jarrod Bowen also getting married to ex-Love Island star Dani Dyer - Rathbone enjoyed the “best day of my life”.

Olson sent a “congratulations” message to the happy couple, along with the likes of Elliot Lee, Max Cleworth, Sam Smith, Ryan Longman, George Evans and Ryan Barnett. Wrexham director Humphrey Ker said, “Yes, Ol. Congratulations!” while club captain McClean added: “She has got a Rathbone! Congrats, guys.”

Having found happiness and stability off the pitch, Rathbone will be hoping to have more cause for celebration on it in 2025-26 as Wrexham, who are being linked with a number of potential additions in the latest transfer window, prepare for life in the Championship.
