    WHAT HAPPENED?

    Welsh clubs playing in the English league made an attempt to find an easier pathway to European football by requesting to play in the Welsh League Cup instead of the English equivalent. The petition is set to undergo review by the English FA after the clubs involved were given backing by the Football Association of Wales.

    As per the Daily Mail, the case, which was set to be reviewed by a sub-committee, will now go before the full FA board. The Mail stress that this would 'would appear to be a blow' to their hopes of switching competitions.

    The EFL clubs in question have been told that the decision has been made ‘due to the importance and significance of the topic’.
