Explained: Why Everton requested last game of 2024-25 Premier League season to be played away from Goodison Park

According to the Echo, the Toffees wanted to make their farewell game at the iconic Goodison Park a memorable one and as a result requested the Premier League authorities not to keep their final game of the 2024-25 season at their home ground.

As all clubs play their final game of the season simultaneously, the Merseyside team felt that the attention of the audience would be divided. To avoid such a situation, they would now play their final game at their beloved home ground on May 18 against Southampton and the club are making efforts to ensure that it remains a standalone fixture.

Everton will shift their base to Bramley-Moore Dock at the end of the 2024-25 season bidding goodbye to the 131-year-old Goodison Park.

Sean Dyche's side begin the new season on Saturday, August 17 against Brighton at home while they will play their final game of the season at St. James' Park against Newcastle.

The Premier League will kick off on Friday, August 16 with Manchester United taking on Fulham at Old Trafford. The first game week will also witness the blockbuster clash between Chelsea and reigning champions Manchester City.
