  • WHAT HAPPENED?

Fofana has shocked Chelsea fans by removing all mention of the club from his Instagram account in an apparent dig over his lack of playing time. The former Leicester star was left out of the starting XI for the Blues' opening Premier League game of the season, a 0-0 draw with Palace, with Trevoh Chalobah partnering Josh Acheampong in central defence.

    WHAT THE FANS ARE SAYING

One fan wrote on X: “What is going on with Wesley Fofana? He deleted everything related to Chelsea on his IG account.”

Ez Chel compared him to one of Chelsea’s slated transfer targets: “This guy is another Garnacho in our team. Very unprofessional.”

LewieAshtrey was similarly unimpressed, adding: “Wesley Fofana may end up as a top 3 worst Chelsea signing of all time.”

TobzHollywood gave an uncompromising view: “F**K WESLEY FOFANA! NO PLAYER IS BIGGER THAN THE CLUB 👊 BYE FELICIA 👋🚨”

IgiEkaKurniawan decided they had seen enough: “I’m fed up with Wesley Fofana's injuries and nonsense. He has to go, no doubt about it.”

  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

Fofana appears to be unhappy with his lack of playing time in recent months, though manager Enzo Maresca recently explained he wants to build the 24-year-old's fitness back up given he has missed a lot of football since moving to Stamford Bridge in 2022.

Maresca recently revealed: “Wes was on the bench, but was just on the bench to be with us, and the plan was for him not to get any minutes. Now hopefully, for the next one, we can use Wes for some minutes.”

  • DID YOU KNOW?

Fofana has made 34 appearances for Chelsea in a little over three seasons with the club so far, with serious knee and hamstring injuries rendering him unavailable for the majority of his Blues career. Interestingly, the one-time France international produced the same antics on social media when attempting to engineer a move away from Leicester three years ago.

    WHAT NEXT FOR FOFANA?

With Levi Colwill already ruled out for most of the season with a cruciate ligament blow, Maresca is short on options at centre-back. However, Fofana has taken a rather nuclear option and it remains to be seen if he will be involved for Chelsea's upcoming clash with West Ham on Friday night.
