  • WHAT HAPPENED?

    After West Ham lost 3-2 to Wolves in the Carabao Cup, Bowen had to be restrained by his team-mates and stewards as he attempted to confront a supporter, who appeared to shout something from the away end. The Hammers had been leading 2-1 but Jorgen Strand Larsen came off the bench to score twice and seal Wolves' progression; the Irons are also rock-bottom of the Premier League after two games, having lost 3-0 to Sunderland and 5-1 to Chelsea.

    Bowen is West Ham's captain and he followed the incident with a heartfelt apology on Instagram.  He wrote: "Apologies to the fans for tonight's reaction. I'm someone who is passionate and will fight every time I step on the pitch. But I need to set a better example and you fans know how much I love you and this club! We ride through the bad times together and I'll see you all Sunday."
