    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Omari appeared incensed by alleged provocations throughout the match, leading to a heated exchange with Mbappe. The altercation escalated as several PSG players, including Marquinhos, Lucas Hernandez, and Randal Kolo Muani, intervened to diffuse the situation.

Despite attempts by Rennes substitute Jeanuel Belocian to restrain Omari, the defender broke free and attempted to confront his opponents once more. The tense standoff continued to shimmer even as Arthur Theate escorted Omari towards the locker room corridor.

Omari endured a challenging evening against Mbappe, with the PSG forward proving to be a constant threat. Omari's struggles were evident as he conceded a penalty for impeding Mbappe in the box. However, PSG failed to capitalise on the opportunity as Steve Mandanda denied Mbappe's spot-kick. But Omari's misfortune persisted as he inadvertently deflected Mbappe's shot into the net, resulting in the decisive goal that propelled PSG to the final against Lyon.

  • WHAT RENNES' COACH SAID

In the aftermath of the altercation, Rennes coach Julien Stephan chose to brush aside the incident and claimed that he was not entirely aware of the reasons behind Omari's outburst.

“I don’t know (what happened),” he told beIN Sports. "A little bit of irritation, we'll calm it all down. There was certainly frustration at the end of the match. We'll recover well for Sunday."
