  • WHAT HAPPENED?

The Welsh legend was in competition with Swedish professional Linn Grant for Sky Sports Golf's YouTube channel. The pair were challenged with hitting the crossbar from ever-increasing distances. As they got all the way back to the halfway line Bale lined up the shot, and despite claiming the challenge was bordering on impossible, drilled the woodwork with a low flighted 4-iron on his final attempt.

The ex-Real Madrid and Spurs winger is well known for his exploits on the course. Bale was famously photographed with a Welsh flag that read 'Wales. Golf. Madrid. In that order' after the principality qualified for Euro 2020.

  • DID YOU KNOW?

Bale plays off a 0.5 handicap, and has appeared at a number of high profile Pro-Am golf events where he has played alongside leading tour players including Jon Rahm and Rory McIlroy.

    WHAT NEXT FOR GARETH BALE?

The 35-year-old has stepped away from the limelight since retiring from football in 2023. With little indication he intends to return to football as a pundit or a coach, the Welshman will be hitting the fairways with few cares or worries. Maybe he finally fancies a long rumoured attempt at breaking onto the tour?
