The north London club have announced that Son has signed a new contract at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium until the summer of 2026. There had been speculation over the South Korea international's future at Spurs as he entered the final six months of his existing deal, however, the English side have now put the rumours to rest.

On Monday, El Nacional reported that Catalan giants Barcelona were eyeing a move for the Spurs star despite their financial woes, but the Premier League side have now successfully exercised their option to trigger a one-year extension on the 32-year-old's deal. Since joining Tottenham in 2015 from Bayer Leverkusen, Son has appeared in 431 matches across all competitions and has scored 169 goals.

The official statement from the club read: "We are delighted to announce that we have exercised the option to extend Heung-Min Son’s contract, which will now run until the summer of 2026."
