  • WHAT HAPPENED?

United claimed a much-needed three points with a comeback victory on Saturday afternoon against the Bees. While Alejandro Garnacho and Rasmus Hojlund cancelled out Ethan Pinnock's opener, Brentford manager Frank said midfielder Christian Eriksen was key to the home team's win.

    WHAT THOMAS FRANK SAID

He told BBC Sport: "Of course I give them credit, there’s always two teams on the pitch. I think we can do better, we have to play two good halves. If you want to win here you have to have two good halves. So the second half was disappointing. Credit to Manchester United, some of their players stepped up. I think Eriksen was running the show, definitely!"

  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

Former Brentford player Eriksen has been in good form of late, notching three goals and as many assists over the past month or so in all competitions. He is out of contract next summer and if he continues to put in good performances for the Red Devils, the club's hierarchy may need to consider a new deal for the 32-year-old. This win also somewhat eases the pressure on United manager Erik ten Hag.

Eriksen's United, who rose to 11th in the Premier League table with Saturday's victory, will hope to make it two wins in a row in all competitions when they travel to Jose Mourinho's Fenerbahce in the Europa League on Thursday.
