  • Busy summer at SToK Racecourse
  • Hollywood owners funding deals
  • Promise of more arrivals to come
  • WHAT HAPPENED?

The Red Dragons have already drafted in six players during the summer window. The first of those was a familiar face, as Arthur Okonkwo returned to North Wales as a free agent after reaching the end of his contract at Arsenal – with the talented goalkeeper helping Phil Parkinson’s side to promotion out of League Two last season.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Lewis Brunt, George Dobson, Callum Burton, Sebastian Revan and Dan Scarr have also arrived at StoK Racecourse, with the promise of more to come. Hollywood co-owners are making the funds available that allow further forays into the recruitment market to be made.

  • WHAT PARKINSON SAID

Wrexham boss Parkinson has said: “The squad is getting there. We are getting there. We are working on a couple of other things to add a bit more quality to what we have already got to make sure we can compete at this level.”

    DID YOU KNOW?

Parkinson added on the need to splash out in order to keep pace with League One rivals: “There are obvious candidates in terms of who will be strong, with the money that certain teams have spent. Like Birmingham, who’ve almost had the (spending) power of a lower Premier League club, never mind a Championship club. It’s a very competitive division. There’s more money because of the new (EFL) TV deal, so people have been spending. Some of the prices we’ve been quoted for players are astronomical. The market has become a bit distorted, maybe because of Birmingham’s spending. But we’re pleased with the lads we’ve brought in and now it’s a case of, ‘Here we go again’. Let’s get ready for action.”

  • WHAT NEXT FOR WREXHAM?

The Red Dragons – who went unbeaten through a pre-season programme that included another trip to North America – will open their 2024-25 League One campaign at home to Wycombe on August 10. The plan is to deliver a third successive promotion for the ‘Welcome to Wrexham’ documentary cameras to cover.
