Ryan Reynolds & Rob McElhenney won’t be scrubbed from history books! Stunning Wrexham record will not be beaten in 2024 despite Chesterfield’s best efforts

The Red Dragons surged back into the EFL last season by claiming the National League title. They did so by picking up 111 points along the way, with the threat of Notts County fended off when securing automatic promotion into League Two.

That stunning haul was expected to stand the test of time, with Wrexham suffering just three defeats across a gruelling 46-game campaign. There was, however, a very real threat that they could be outdone just 12 months on.

Chesterfield, who lost in the National League play-off final in 2022-23, have been in stunning form this season. The Spireites are close to confirming their own return to the EFL, but did surprisingly drop points in their latest outing against FC Halifax Town.

A 4-2 defeat in West Yorkshire means that Chesterfield can no longer better Wrexham’s record-breaking points haul – with 110 the best that they can manage with six games left to take in. That news will come as some relief to Reynolds and McElhenney, with Wrexham currently taking aim at back-to-back promotions.
