Maria is not the first to express dissatisfaction with life in Manchester. In the past, Jorgelina Cardoso, the wife of former United winger Angel Di Maria, was open about her unhappy experience in the city. Speaking in a 2022 interview with Argentinean TV channel LAM, Jorgelina narrated how she and Di Maria frequently argued about their move from Real Madrid, saying: "We fought about it... We try to be closer when things go wrong. I don't blame him for going there. It was horrible, so horrible. I just told him: 'Darling, I want to kill myself, it's night time at two o'clock.'"
Getty Images SportWHAT NEXT FOR AMORIM?
While Amorim remains committed to his managerial role at United, it appears he is also working to convince his wife to embrace their new environment. The team’s struggles on the pitch, however, have only made things harder. Their current form in the league has left them 14th in the table, a stark contrast to their historical dominance in English football. The Red Devils will be back in action in a crucial Europa League last-16 first-leg encounter against Real Sociedad on Thursday.
