'Can't just play for 45 minutes!' - Robert Lewandowski sends strong message to Barcelona ahead of Napoli clash in Champions League

The former Bayern Munich star netted a brace as Barcelona edged out relegation-threatened Celta Vigo 2-1 in La Liga on Saturday. The Polish striker handed his team the lead at the stroke of halftime before Iago Aspas brought Rafael Benitez's side back into the game in the 47th minute. The star player then converted a penalty deep into the added time to secure an important win for his club.

The veteran player was unhappy with the efforts of his colleagues as he urged them to be more consistent throughout a match ahead of facing Napoli in the Champions League knockout stage.

Speaking to DAZN after the game, the 35-year-old said, "In the second half we didn't play well. They were lucky in their goal, but we did little offensively. If you want to win a game 2-0 or 3-0, you can't just play for 45 minutes. I am happy. We won a very important match for us. These are three important points. Now we can look at the Champions League."

The Catalan giants have reached the Champions League knockout stage for the first time since the 2020/21 season. They last reached the quarter-final of the competition during the 2019/20 season where they were knocked out after losing 8-2 to Lewandowski's former club, Bayern Munich.

With the win on Saturday, Xavi's side managed to hold on to the third position in La Liga. They are 10 points behind league leaders and rivals Real Madrid and two behind Girona. They are now set to lock horns against the reigning Italian champions in the first leg of their round of 16 clash on Wednesday.
