Getty WHAT HAPPENED?
Erik Ten Hag's tenure at Manchester United took yet another hit as the Red Devils could only take home a solitary point from the Vitality Stadium on Saturday. The absence of the former Ajax winger fueled the ongoing rumours of a rift between him and Ten Hag. However, the club has completely shot down the reports of the Brazilian having been dropped and given a valid reason as to why he did not travel with the squad to the south coast.
THE BIGGER PICTURE
As per ESPN, the Red Devils were unhappy with the rumours surrounding Antony's absence and they revealed that the Brazilian winger suffered an unspecified injury during the final training session and had to pull out early from the session. He was reportedly not declared fit ahead of the squad's trip to Bournemouth, and hence, was left behind to continue his recovery.
GettyDID YOU KNOW?
Man Utd have had a major injury crisis this season and Antony's reported injury is the 57th incident of a player having missed a match through injury as per journalist Rich Fay. As per earlier reports, a section of Man Utd players believe that the injury crisis has been brought upon the club by Ten Hag's strenuous training regime amidst a tightly packed season.
WHAT NEXT FOR ANTONY?
As per ESPN, the Brazilian's injury is not that serious and he could very well be declared fit for the FA Cup semi-final clash against Coventry City on Sunday, April 21.
