Revealed: Marcus Rashford could inherit Lamine Yamal's old Barcelona shirt or follow in Thierry Henry's footsteps with three numbers available to Man Utd loanee

Earlier this week, Barcelona confirmed that Yamal will inherit the No.10 shirt from Ansu Fati, who was initially given the shirt after Lionel Messi's exit in 2021. That clears the way for Rashford to take Yamal's old no.19, the same shirt he filled for United from 2016-2019.

Mundo Deportivo speculates that Rashford could also be tempted by the unoccupied no.14. That number belonged to Thierry Henry, Rashford's idol growing up. The third and final jersey available to the Man Utd loanee at Barca is the No.22, which was last worn by Manchester City midfielder Ilkay Gundogan.

The 26-year-old will join La Blaugrana on a season-long loan with a €30m (£26m/$35m) option to buy. Rashford will also take a 25% pay cut in order to complete his dream move to the La Liga giants.

Regardless of the number on his back, Rashford will just be glad to start fresh in a new country and a new club. He is expected to be officially presented as a Barcelona player on Tuesday, July 22, the day after completing his medical.
