Revealed: Carlo Ancelotti's two big concerns about taking Brazil job ahead of imminent Real Madrid exit

Ancelotti was close to becoming Selecao manager back in 2023, but the move was abandoned after president Ednaldo Rodrigues was temporarily removed from his post after a court ruled his election to the post was unlawful. Upon Rodrigues' return in January 2024, Ancelotti had re-signed in Madrid, leading the CBF to instead hire Dorival Junior. Speaking on Selecao TV, presenter Andre Rizek suggested the constant upheaval within the governing body could prove to be a stumbling block in the negotiations.

Rizek went on to suggest Ancelotti is delaying the deal because he does not want to live in Brazil. It is believed the Italian previously agreed to reside in the country, but he now wants to remain in Europe as his family is concerned about their security. Ancelotti's house was burgled during his tenure as Everton manager in 2021.

Rizek said: "In the contract he signed in 2023, Ancelotti signed that he would live in Brazil. The CBF is insisting that he live in Brazil. This time, he is putting up some obstacles. He was robbed when he was coach of Everton (in 2021), his house was robbed in England. His family is concerned about security in Brazil. And he, for example, is claiming that Scaloni, the coach of Argentina, lives in Spain. Why couldn't he live in Europe? That is still on the table."

On the issue of unrest within the CBF, Rizek said: "Last time, Ancelotti signed a commitment agreement and, at the time he found himself at a crossroads with Real Madrid to decide whether or not to extend the contract, the CBF was without a president, who had been removed by the courts.

"He is asking questions about the current political situation at the CBF. What could happen in the coming months? Is there any guarantee of stability? Has it changed since the period when he signed a contract and then the president with whom he signed the contract was removed? He is seeking information on the subject. The CBF is going through a time of great turbulence."

The five-time Champions League-winning coach is almost certainly on the way out of the Bernabeu, and is expected to take up the post in Brazil come season's end on the May 26. The Selecao must announce their squad for their upcoming World Cup qualifiers by the May 18, creating a possible issue for the federation and their incoming manager.
