    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Los Blancos have a lot of experience in their squad, but are losing two key players in Fernandez and the retiring Toni Kroos. By handing the armband to Modric, Madrid are ensuring they still have a winner and leader at the helm as they prepare to go again in 2024-25.

  • DID YOU KNOW?

Fernandez played 364 times for Real Madrid after joining in 2012. In that time, he has added six Champions Leagues, four La Liga titles and five Spanish Super Cup titles to his trophy collection.
