Phil Parkinson sets Wrexham ‘top of the table’ challenge on three-year anniversary of Ryan Reynolds & Rob McElhenney’s takeover

A lot has changed at SToK Racecourse since a stunning takeover was completed back in February 2021. The Red Dragons are now a Football League side once more and are taking aim at a spot on the third rung of that ladder.

Wrexham have hit a rare wobble of late, suffering three successive defeats in all competitions, and have slipped out of the League Two automatic promotion places as a result. They can, however, call upon the full support of co-owners Reynolds and McElhenney, with Parkinson determined to get the club back on track.

Parkinson has said of collective ambition heading into a home date with Bradford City on Saturday: “Being a manager, there's many challenges along the way. In my first season here we had some difficult games and we had to change things around and find solutions. That's what it's all about. You want to win every week but when you don't, you have got to take it on the chin. We have sat down as staff and had some good chats this week about what we feel we need to do. Everyone's had input and it is refreshing when the staff come back in on Monday morning and everyone has been thinking about it as much as I have over the weekend. We are preparing for the game against Bradford and there is a real determination in everyone at the club to keep at the top of the table.”

Wrexham have 18 fixtures left to take in this season, with there more than enough points up for grabs in order for a top-three finish to be secured. They boast games in hand on all of those around them in League Two and know what it takes to get over the line having refused to buckle under pressure in a record-breaking National League title triumph.
