    That is according to the Daily Telegraph, who report that Guardiola is ready to agree a one-year extension to his deal at the Etihad Stadium. His current contract is due to expire in the summer of 2025, but a further 12 months may be spent in Manchester after that.

    If Guardiola were to put pen to paper, before honouring said deal, then he would complete a decade of service with City. That is said to be a target for the Catalan coach, who only spent four years with Barcelona at the start of his coaching career, and three at German giants Bayern Munich.

    WHAT NEXT?

    The 53-year-old is said to be open to the idea of coaching at international level in the future – as he agrees to a sizeable salary cut – but for now he is enjoying life in the club game. He is ready to end any talk of sabbaticals or taking charge of England, following an approach by the FA, with City seemingly set to benefit from his presence in the dugout for some time yet.
