    WHAT HAPPENED?

  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

Salah has helped to land Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup, League Cup, UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup titles, but is now approaching the final year of his contract on Merseyside. No fresh terms have been agreed as yet.

  • WHAT SALAH SAID

The lack of an extension has kept the rumour mill ticking over, with teams in the Middle East said to be keen on acquiring the talismanic 31-year-old. Salah has, however, posted on social media when offering a nod towards his short-term plans: “We know that trophies are what count and we will do everything possible to make that happen next season. Our fans deserve it and we will fight like hell.”

  • WHAT NEXT?

Liverpool are bidding farewell to Jurgen Klopp in 2024, as he steps down as manager, and will be reluctant to lose key figures on and off the field in the same summer. Big-money bids may yet be tabled, but Salah appears happy to remain in his current surroundings for now and stay in the hunt for more major honours.
